12 Things You Didn’t Know About ‘BTS’

  1. Why BTS? Very easy! BTS is the acronym for “Bangtan Sonyeondan” which in Spanish means “Bulletproof Boys”. The band is made up of 7 members (Jeon Jung Kook, Park Jimin, V, Suga, Jin, J-Hope and Rap Monster) and their official colors are black and white.
  2. BTS was born more than 4 years ago: In 2013, Big Hit Entertainment searched all over South Korea to find the best of the best to create a super boy band and from there BTS was born, the K-Pop band that, to this day, it is taking the world by storm.
  3. The original name of the band has changed: In South Korea, BTS is better known as Bangtan Sonyeondan, but in other countries around the world they are also known as Bangtan Boys. In the month of July of this year, the boys revealed a new identity for the United States: “Beyond The Scene” which in Spanish means “Beyond the Scene”.
  4. They have a veritable legion of fans on social media: We’re not exaggerating, the Bangtan Boys are so highly acclaimed and followed on social media that TIME Magazine even put them on its list of the 25 Most Influential People on the Internet. None of the band members have personal social media accounts, but instead they use their group page to continually talk to their fans. BTS has more than 10 million followers on Twitter, more than 5 million on Facebook and Youtube, and more than 6 million on Instagram (if you take time to read this, the numbers may be out of date).
  5. The name of your fandom is better known as ARMY. And why this name? Adorable, Representative, MC for, Youth. In addition, “Army” means “army” in English and they have chosen this word because, according to the members of the band, their fans are the army that most faithfully and tirelessly fights for them.
  6. They have managed to beat singers like Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez: The BTS boys were nominated at the 2017 Billboard Awards in the category for Best Artist on Social Networks along with other well-known singers in the music industry such as Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande or Shawn Mendes. The Bangtan won the award thanks to the massive votes of all their fans.
  7. First South Korean group to win an American award: It was not enough for them to take away from the Beliebers the award they had won in the last two years. BTS was the first South Korean K-pop group to win a major American award like the Billboard Music Award.
